Today in English we worked in the computer lab. The students had a list of six quotes to choose from. Their assignment was to look up the person who said the quote. Then they had to write a blog post about what the quote meant to them and what they think the speaker meant by the quote. They were to include a photo or a video.
“You must Be the Change you want to see in the world.” Mahatma Gandhi
“Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.” Dalai Lama
“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.” Albert Einstein
“An essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to fail.” Edwin Land
“If you want to make the world place a better place take a look at yourself and make a change.” Michael Jackson
In math the students were give 24 tiles. They were asked to find as many different arrays (area representation of multiplication as they could). Here are some examples:
After this warm up the students were assigned numbers. Their job was to find all the factors of a number and display them on a chart with drawings of arrays. We did not finish yet so we will continue tomorrow and I will post photos of their finished work on tomorrow’s post.
