Mid-Week – Commenting on Blogs

03 Oct

Today in English we looked at and commented on 5T’s blog.  Unfortunately we can’t watch their videos on student log ins  as they are blocked.  So, we commented on posts with photos.  We are just learning how to do this and it is a steep learning curve but the students are catching on.  We are trying to post specific comments such as;  what type of plane were you flying, were you scared, I’ve flown in a small plane before, etc.  We are trying to avoid comments that are vague such as “cool” or “awesome” with no other feedback.  I am trying to figure out how to put 5Ts blog on our blog roll but I’m having trouble.  I would appreciate a comment with instructions!

The students also worked on their own blogs.  We would really love comments from parents and friends so please click on class blogs on the right and then click on our blogs.  Feedback really helps us to improve our writing by providing instrinsic motivation.

During math we practiced multiplication using the standard algorith.  That’s the procedure we all learned when we were in school.  In order to remember procedures we need to practice regularly.  Some students brought work home.    We will be working on multiplication and division for the next few days and then we will move onto fun fractions!  I love fractions.

    Hello Ms Little’s class!
My name is Mr Talbot and I teach 5T class in Birmingham, England.
We have really enjoyed reading the comments that you have written for us, thank you.
It is a shame that you can’t see our videos, maybe you could view them from your home computers.
My favourite subject is Math and I am curious to know what the standard multiplication algorith is. Maybe you could post some pictures to explain, and we could show you how we do multipication too. If Ms Little agrees, we could show you using Skype, that would be very exciting!
My favourite website for math is http://www.mathplayground.com there are lots of games to support your math learning journey on this site. We love it!
We also have a creative writing blog which you are welcome to contribute to. The address is http://bmj100wc.wordpress.com
If you decide to have a go, remember that you are only allowed to use 100 words and no more…..quite a challenge!!

I look forward to visiting your blog again very soon.
    Bye for now.

I love your blog it has lots of different information about you and also a bit about us in 5T . I can’t wait until we start doing skype with you. Our topic is weather we would very much like to know what the the weather is like in Canada. Over in Birmingham the weather is very cold and it is also raining. Our science that were learning about is evaporation and which liquids evaporate and which liquids don’t. What are you doing in topic? What are you doing in science ?
