In math we shared our solutions to yesterday’s measurement problem. Everyone had a 10 x 10 Geo Board and had to split it in half. There were a few conditions though. All angles had to be 90 degrees and it couldn’t be split right down the middle into two rectangles. There were many creative solutions:
One of the learning goals was to see that the same area can have many shapes. This activity also included fractions (halves) and spatial reasoning as the students had to manipulate the elastic to make different shapes with an area of 50 square units.
